Cruz Jauregui

Co-Founder & Director

Cruz Jauregui has spent the past ten years in the education sector, providing mentorship and counseling to middle and high school students in the Oakland Unified School District. In 2016, he designed and implemented the first Restorative Justice program in a military school setting. The goal of the program was to support transformative justice, youth advocacy, and civic engagement.

Cruz was born and raised in Oakland, California. He earned a B.A. in Criminal Justice from San Francisco State University.

Myles Asuelo

Co-Founder & Director

Myles Asuelo has worked in education since 2014. He has provided academic mentorship and social and emotional support to students all across Oakland Unified School District and Alameda County Office of Education. Before starting Zymbolic, he co-piloted the Restorative Justice Program at Oakland Military Institute, where he specialized in high-stakes dialogue, violence prevention, and trauma-informed support through mindfulness and breathwork.

He was born in the East Bay and raised in Hercules, California. He earned a B.A. in Criminal Justice from San Francisco State University.

Jackie Marquez

Educator & Behavior Specialist

Jackie Marquez has 10 years of experience supporting students across the Bay Area, primarily as a behavior technician and instructional aide for neurodivergent individuals. In addition to her work in special education classrooms, she has served as a roller skating instructor in an after-school program at King Middle School in Berkeley. She also developed and helped organize an enrichment class program at Summit K2 in El Cerrito.

Born in Vallejo and raised in Hercules, California, Jackie earned her B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Education from UC Berkeley.

Sarah Rodriguez

Special Education (SPED) Specialist

Sarah Rodriguez has worked in education for 15 years, serving students and families across Oakland Unified School District. She specializes in supporting inclusive learning environments through social-emotional learning, culturally responsive practices, and special education.

Sarah has experience working with students with IEPs in both general education inclusion settings and self-contained special education classrooms. As a special education specialist, she reviews, refines, and coaches the implementation of engaging, accessible SEL curriculum.
